The people who frequent the science forum just look it up and pretend they know something about it. It isn't easy to find info about this. There is a Tasmanian GMO variety that produces thebaine for pharmaceutical use, but I am looking for something high in morphine.
I am looking for superior genetics for potential morphine extraction. It is a simple process. I simply do not want to be dependent on other people for pain medication if I need some in the future.
Does anyone know what strains are usually grown in Afghanistan? I don't live in that type of favorable climate for high alkaloid production, but I am sure they have good strains for it. They can grow in every state in the US. They are cold tolerant.

It is good scientific practice to look up, weher on has not enough own expertise. Do you expect more expertise here?
Probably it is illegal to operate a opium production unit. So people helping you out with a source for getting seeds probably can be made responsible also.
I think people trying to set up their own farm for illegal products obtain such things via darknet channels. But the darknet is a dangerous place (I have heard)

@ponderable saidBuying the seeds is legal. I have been growing ornamental varieties for years. Some are bred for low alkaloid content. That is why it is so important to get the right strain.
