I'm shocked and Appalled that this thread wasn't created before I thought of it!

If you clicked on this thread and you haven't heard, go to www.hatrack.com for the latest news and info.

You may have heard it and it is true. A screenplay adaptation of Ender's Game is in the works. Likely, the film will be directed by Wolfgang Petersen, but it's still too early to promise anything. Major diversions from the book: Col. Anderson's character is now a woman. Definately Peter, and probably Valentine, will be eliminated to reduce the film's running time.

He's also working on a video game. I am currently scouring the web for more info about that...

Now that should be interesting... read the Ender's game series years ago, and I remember liking the books very much. Wonder how it'll work on screen... also, given that the book has sequels, I wonder whether we're in for a new sci-fi movie "series", much like the Matrix films...

The Enders Game series wasn't that good...compared to Dream Park (forget who it's by) it wavers in the actual story department, as well as taking too much time on character development.

Hmm...
I think that although Ender's Game would translate well to the big screen, there are simply too many internal conflicts in the rest of the series. Like you said, too much time on character development and not enough action.
On the other hand, I think the new series (Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, and Shadow Puppets) isn't quite so abstract and is much more suitable for the screen.
But, let me tell you, I can't wait for "Ender's Game the video game" and Ender's Game action figures!
