No, it is about how those players PAID for getting tattoos. Huge difference!!
Are you suggesting that the win/loss colunm had anything to do with getting tattoos?

no, but the players who performed in those wins and were instrumental in obtaining
those wins were breaking the rules, therefore they should not have played.
And, had they not played, the likelihood that those wins would have been losses was
greatly enhanced!!

Tressel, knew this, and played them anyway. That is why they got busted, and why
Tressel is gone.

You OSU people have such difficulty comprehending the simplest things.

I get all that, but again, that has NOTHING to do with Tressels coaching ability. If Meyer can't do as good as Tressel he will not be considered better than Tressel at Ohio State. I could care less what he did before coming to OSU.

Also, don't forget that the NCAA knew about the infractions BEFORE the bowl game. The NCAA wanted them to play just as bad as Tressel. The hypocrisy of the NCAA is astounding!! 😲

Tressel knew about the infractions long before the bowl game... and the game before that... and the one before that....

What do you kids want from me? Do you want me to defend Tressels lack of judgement for lying? I won't give it. However, I will say that in terms of football, he was at the top of coaches in OSU history. Had his players not made bone headed decisions and then have Tressel try to cover for them, OSU probably would be in the NCG this year.....again.

It is therefore, my contention, that if Meyer does not approach the success of Tressel at OSU, he will not be considered a good coach even though he may have had a great career at Florida and elsewhere. Tressel will be thought of as a better coach and without much arguement from me....at least in terms of being able to win football games.

Good thing no one at OSU pays attention to what you think or they would still be
playing under a cheating head coach who did ok at OSU but probably would wash out
at better football schools. 😛

Are you suggesting I condone and sanction breaking NCAA rules? Funny, I don't recall advocating that.

To be honest, I think the thing to do is to find a QB with half a brain. After all, TP could not even talk in complete sentences. It was so bad that in his little tat with Kirk Herbstreet he could not even talk in complete sentences to defend himself.

Why the QB? It is because the QB is the heart and soul of the offense and in large part the ring leader of the players. He sets the tone off the field and on the field. In short, I would not have a QB who advertises Mike Vick on the football field as some kind of hero.

You merely extol the virtues of a coach that breaks the rules.
Therefore, you are guilty by association.

If QB's only had to have half a brain, they could only play for Ohio State.

I said I thought he was a good guy even though he had a lapse in judgement. I would place him far above other revered coaches like Joe Pa.

How about Woodie Hayes????

On a side note, whodey, I really like the Big 10/PAC-12 partnership that was announced. I don't see a downside and we're going to see some great matchups in the future.

Maybe they need to join the same conference to try and rival the omnipotent SEC?

What about him? If you are asking of Woodie is more revered that Tressel then yes, he is. It would stand to reason because he has more wins and national titles under his belt and was there far longer.

Of course, his moral character was questionable in attacking a player on the opposing
team during a game where OSU was getting beat.

Was that also a "momentary lapse of judgment"?

It was one of the most heinous acts any coach could perform.
