there is the sad song about "my son" ( the mother who laments her son who has gone off to war )...etc....the white cliffs of dover...etc...
she was a dance hall singer from a poor background but she was in the right moment of time...an everygirl when men going off to war and their parents and sweethearts wanted to hold onto a memory both befor and after the train departed the the dreaded telegram arrived...
