I was on a business trip to southern Ohio and northern Kentucky at the beginning of this week and gas prices there were in the $1.07/litre range. Here, in southwestern Ontario it's about $1.32/litre. I just read that we can expect it to jump to the $2.32/litre in the next "liitle while". When will you park your car? I live in a rural area so public transit is not an option for me but if it comes to that I may just have to move...........or retire fully.
i live in london, so no need for a car, and for most people they're a liability - difficult and expensive to park, and there's an £8 a day (over $15) charge for driving into the centre on weekedays - except that i lug a load of musical gear around for gigs so yes, i do have a car which i use occasionally.
most days i cycle to work.

I'm not looking forward to the gas price hike at all, but it's probably long overdue (although as far as I can tell, very little if any of the increased tax revenue is going towards stewardship of the emissions).
Originally posted by PBE6If the Liberals get elected Dion's Carbon tax will roll in the federal gas tax as part of the program. Any increased tax revenue from higher gas prices will be used to offset the corresponding income tax reductions resulting from the carbon tax plan.

So, even though gas prices go up, your income tax goes down, thus offsetting the impact.

😞
I thought the Liberal way was spend, spend, spend. And the Conservatives was tax, tax, tax ( except for big business of course)

Your income tax will be reduced approx 10% though. It won't end up costing you anything in the end.
