Tattoos: 4. "The Motto" (Probably best known to you all as the "Death Or Glory" badge of the 17/21 Lancers regiment) on my right shoulder, another skull and crossbones with some poetry beneath that one, a largeish dagger on my left arm, and a viking sword/western dragon backpiece (unfinished) ( http://members.lycos.co.uk/shortgoth001/ for pics)
Piercings: 0 (but over 100 scars)
Hair: Natural mousey-brown, 1/4" long (had hair just under 2 feet long but shaved it all off a few years ago).
Hair of varying lengths, colours and styles.
No tattoos yet, but have designed a few of my own I will get round to doing eventually.
No piercings, not realy a fan, but wouldn't rule it out completely.
Several different self imposed scarifications. Somewhere between body art and teenage angst, long time ago anyway. None that are really visible apart from kanji for invisible one on my left pectoral.

1 frenum piercing - now stretched to 6ga and sporting an acrylic CBR.
Had both nipples but went too aggressive on the stretching and had to bail out at 6ga.
Yee-effin'-haw!

No piercings or tatoos.
Anyway, it's been quite an experience. I'm from another planet, visiting this thread. Some time ago, I started a thread in the Debates forum, trying to be provocative and ask: Why on earth do people mutilate their bodies?? Why should you suffer pain, make life more difficult for yourself, only to seek ATTENTION?? This is no rhetorical question, I really do not know why people do it, as I said, I'm from another planet.
Anyway, this thread has opened my eyes - it's been educational to say the least. What people enjoy and have fun doing amazes me!
I suppose piercings are OK, you're going through a phase; peer pressure and all that; one day you'll grow up and wonder why you did it and remove the scrapyard from your body.
But I only have one question to those who cover themselves with tatoos (the permanent kind). Have you considered how you might feel about this in ten year's time?
I have a friend who was a sailor and has a large nude tatooed down his left arm. He is now a married man with two beautiful daughters, and would like to chop his arm off if he only could. He only wears long-sleeved shirts, even in the height of summer! I asked him if he tried having it removed: too expensive, he said. And also not witchout risk.
So, whoever you are out there considering a permanent tatoo: for your own sake, get a stick-on instead!! You might feel out of "your crowd" right now, but remember that in the corporate Board Room there are few pierced eyebrows and fewer tatoos......
In peace,
CJ
PS: Having written this, I realise that I must qualify which Board Room! I guess the Board Rooms of "Black Sabbath" or "Soho Sweethearts" would welcome them!
A slightly condescending view Cal. Not everyone regrets having their tattoos done, and not everyone grows out of wearing piercings. In all manner of cultures through all manner of times there have been different forms of body art or marking. Some to denote status, some to enhance attractiveness (even today, girls pierce their ears for this very notion), some to show a rite of passage. The situation today is not that different, people have such things done for similar reasons, to fit into a group, to show their particular status or beliefs. To view them as immature is a little unfair, some people change when they grow up and may well decide, like your friend, that they wish they hadn't had them done, but many will never even concieve of this being an option. It's not just a silly teenager thing.
P.S. Oh and why would they want to be allowed into a board room that excludes them for their choice of body art anyway?

I have a piercing in my ear - school days it was cool - but I'm not really into piercings.
Definately gonna get my first tat this December break.
Hair - oily - that's why I keep it very very short.

Nahhhh, I don't play chess. I'm just tired of darlay acting like he's the coolest person in the world and making all kinds of weird challenges that I send him my name and phone number, so he can stalk me like some kind of mad homo. Darlay's a little off his rocker.
