I like to put a soft one over my head covering my eyes and ears but leaving a hole so I can breathe.

My wife has about 30 pillows scattered around her body and takes at least 3 with her if we go on a trip.

We sleep on a California King, I am 6 foot 2 and kind of stick out of regular sized beds, the Calif. King is 7 feet long. I cover up my feet more than the rest of me, my wife has the windows open in the winter and throws off the blankets, me, I like to be covered and stay warm!

I use one pillow under my head and if need be one under the feet.

Actually, I realized, I use one under my head and one over my head, like I said, eyes and ears covered and a breathing space for my nose.

Makes a nice comfy cocoon around my head.

My wife and I use orthopaedic pillows. We used to suffer from neck ache often, and I decided to invest, as they are not cheap. When you consider you spend 1/3rd of your life on your pillow - then at least invest in a good one/s. We sleep so well nowadays - they are a delight, and well worth the investment!

I don't maintain a well-stocked pillow supply.

I had to ask my (former) gf to bring her own.

:sheepish:

And I'll wager you liked to "puff" them up but since she WAS your gf she didn't.

My wife and I had been sleeping on an antique Calif. king that was old when her mom gave it to us in 1990. You can imagine it was a bit....baggy?.

So the other day, we live in Pennsylvania, we wandered into a used furniture store in Allentown, and we spied a brand new mattress still covered in plastic.

We asked about it, turned out to be a Calif. king. Nobody around here even knows what a Calif. king is, and we had had backaches for years on the old mattress, so we asked about it, turned out they had a VERY thick solid wood frame that went with it and they wanted only 600 bucks. We brow beat them down to 450 and they delivered it and set it up, well sort of, I had to finish it but it was really worth it. Seems that bed and mattress combo originally sold for well over 4000 bucks! It is very old school, inch thick solid real wood frame, brand new mattress and all.

Our backaches are mostly a thing of the past now. We should have dumped that old piece of crap years ago, but we liked the calif king, at least for me, my feet don't hang out over the end like on regular beds. It was a great deal a long time coming.

It was just a shot in the dark where we looked inside the store (which I knew used to be a computer nerd supply store I used to visit) and lucked out big time!

That is a good deal.

I don't like to use a pillow at all, makes my neck feel all kinked in the morning.

The room has to be below 70 F or I can't sleep at all. I keep the house at 62 F in the winter with a warm down comforter, just perfect!

Literally or figuratively? BTW, I saw a report about hammocks, the rocking motion you give it can help get you to sleep. I was wondering if you heard about any kind of water pump affair that could set you gently rocking back and forth in a water bed to give a bit of rolling motion maybe helping you to get to sleep. It should be pretty easy to accomplish in a water bed, a lot easier than in a traditional mattress.

It brings to mind the battery powered infant rocking seats, you know the kind that uses 4 D cells and has the rocking motion motor that sets the seat to swinging gently? I am wondering if a similar motion, but done with pumps to move water around to impart a gentle rolling motion could do the same for adults.
