this might sound stupid, but my pinkies wear and needs to be stronger (for guitar-it keeps on missing notes and stuff. and my pull offs/hammer on's with it are appalling...). anyway-does anyone have any ideas how to make it stronger?

Do chromatic runs across the fingerboard, one fret per finger eg: 1st finger on F, 2nd on F#, 3rd on G, 4th on Gsharp, then go to the A string all the way up to the high e string, then back down.
When you get that smooth, work the pinky with all the other fingers across the neck eg: 1st (F) 4th (Gsharp) up and down, then 2nd finger and 4th up and down, then 3rd and 4th. Try to leave the pinkie anchored while you change strings with the other finger on the way up (in pitch) and leave the other finger anchored while you change strings with the pinkie I hope this makes senseπŸ˜›

Your local music store should have some equipment made to build strength in all your fingers. Kind of like those things that use tension to increase your grip strength... know what I'm talking about?

I had this same problem, I improved my pinky strength by placing an elastic band between thumb and pinky and then stretching it back and forth until it hurts. Do this as often as you can, but make sure you stretch before and after to avoid injury. Should have pinkies like superman in no time at all πŸ™‚

There's only one thing that will make your pinky stronger - tough love. Next time it comes home drunk at 2:00am, you lock it out of your house.

I play guitar too. I think coordination and fine motor skills are the most important things you can develop. I used to play major scales in box positions 5 frets wide, up and down the neck (one position at a time), then 4-note per string major scale patterns up and down the neck, then the chromatic exercise that KneverKnight described, always with a metronome. It's important to start these exercises very slowly so you can really concentrate on getting the form right before turning up the tempo to light-speed.
