Our dog (Akita) is an aggressive breed also, but only in a protective sense. She acts just like this Akita in the video. She is super good with the kids, the kids know to show her respect as well and she is by there side at all times.

One day, the kid was playing catch in the backyard and went "long" for a ball. It triggered a prey drive response in one of them and it took him to the ground and mauled his leg pretty good before the dad was able to wrangle it free.
When my mom asked what they were gonna do about it, his mother responded, "well he knew better than to run when the dogs were back there". I wasn't allowed to go over there to play any longer.
I've met some nice ones of the years, but I sure as hell didn't trust them, "trained" or not.
Any grown human can easily kill a pit-bull. If it bites, punch its nose hard and quickly grab a leg, any leg, and yank it into the air hard with your free hand. Swing it around, snapping its leg, and smack its brains against a wall.
Repeat 2 times, get the wok ready...... and hey presto, a Cantonese meal at the same time.

I know a few pit bulls, none of them have ever bitten anyone because they OWNER has raised them responsibly. In fact, I know a few other breeds that have bitten more people like lap dogs of all kinds and other types. One of my neighbors has a dog that is a mix breed (Great Dane/Shephard and HUGE) that has a history of biting. I once owned a doberman and I have a pit bull mix right now. I prefer the more protective, assertive breeds myself. I have found the experience to be really rewarding when my dog STAYS, SITS and heads in the direction that I merely use my finger to point in.
My neighbor won't let his kids in my yard. He says, "I don't trust that dog." (My dog has a pen) He allows my dog to play with his dog, however.
There are "pit" behaviors in my dog and what I do is recognize them and approach them in a way that makes sure my dog feels secure and give her boundaries for those traits. She's super sweet, protective and has never bitten a single person.
It's a downright shame what has happened to the pit bull in the US. But they are not the first stigmatized and exploited breed and they won't be the last.

On the other hand, I don't trust any dog 100%. It is an animal, and animals are unpredictable. Very young children are unpredictable too, so I wouldn't trust one of them with a dog. It has been said that your dog is the wolf in your living room, and I think we dog owners have to look at our animals in a different way to them being our little pets.
Thinking about it, I don't trust my cat either😕
Mikelom, where does the state pay vet bills in the UK? I don't know of any vets in my town that work free or on any government scheme. I'm interested.
