Never met the guy who made it, but it was in my local paper this week. He's from the same area as me.
In the game, once any piece captures another piece it will inherit the abilities of the captured piece. Thus, if a Queen captures a Knight, the Queen may now move as a knight... there are even little sleeves to place over each piece to show what moves can now be made by any given chess piece.
Sounds neat, thought I'd share.
