i am curious to know how many of you (professional or otherwise) do your designing by straight coding with

a WYSIWYG program such as frontpage
a program that has is not WYSIWYG but offers several shortcuts such as arachnophilia or bluefish
a straight text editor such as notepad

i would appreciate knowing your reasons for your choice too.

thanks

I use a text editor (textpad.com - it is excellent).

All my work tends to be applications (such as this site), so no other method is really suitable.

Textpad is a great tool (like Russ said).
It has syntax highlighting for a lot of languages (and you can download a lot more document classes if the language you're using is not supported).
I don't realy like any of the WYSIWYG products, except maybe dreamweaver (mostly for .asp stuff), but don't even instal Frontpage if you really need to create any serious webpages.

I prefer to use a text editor with highlight feature. For both my php scripts and html files I use "DzSoft php editor" which is light and easy to use.

I don't like big application like Frontpage because it put lot of garbage codes in your html files when you use the drag and drop.

I'll look into that, so far I have only used the Notepad that comes with the computer.

Yep - I returned earlier in the week - but I have been keeping a low profile on the site while I deal with a few issues that popped up while I was away and finding my feet back at work again.

Just for fun, here is a honeymoon snap from the middle of the Indian ocean. My poor new wife has now become a walking billboard - she didn't just marry the man, she married the site too. 🙂
