@fmf saidThere is something attractive about vinyl, but imo it’s more to with nostalgia and the tangible tactile interface with the record itself rather than the sound reproduction. Digital is technically far superior but it is also dependent the quality of the playback equipment.
Im not saying that fans of vinyl are bad or dishonest or that people should not collect and listen to music in this old school [though resurgent] format, but pro-vinyl snobbery is heavy on sentimentally and light on factual support.
Thoughts?
A member my own family has a late 1980s (then) higher end Technics system set up in their dining room which they are proud of for some reason. Aside from it cluttering up the already small room, it’s a technical relic. They hardly ever use it, it’s just there for “show”. I find it a little bizarre tbh.
Pro-Vinyl snobbery is deluded when it's a young person trying to be a modern pretentious beatnik.
A kick in the face and thrown down the stairs won't even dislodge the record they are clutching to their chest.
Everyone trying to have some form of identity I presume and I will never understand it or accept it.
Old people have the right to be Pro-Vinyl.
