Problem with printer

There's a mouse living in my printer! 😲
And I do mean a real live mouse. Our stupid cat brought it in and let it escape. It then fled into my printer and I can't reach it.I've opened the back and put the printer outside at night so the mouse could go back home, but it seems to be quite happy in it's new home.Luring it out with cookies and/or cheese doesn't work either.I wouldn't mind it being there, except that I don't fancy mousesh*t in my printer πŸ˜•
Now what?Any bright ideas?

Sir Lot.

I hope that the printer is no longer under warranty, else you may void it by opening the casing.

As for luring it out, you may try cheese. I'm sure that the little critter will become extremely hungry. Extreme hunger trumps fear.

The problem becomes ensuring that the mouse is not able to return to his new lodging after exiting to fetch some cheese. Perhaps you can engineer an over-hanging door supported that must fall after the mouse passes under it.

Nope, luring it out doesn't work.Of course it'll come out eventually, but I can't sit there all day.The mouse has more time to spare than me πŸ˜•

since the lures failed, why not just start unscrewing the printer.
take it apart and the mouse will leave.

another possibility is to get one of those high pitch sound devices that are used to repel rodents.

a third idea is to lure the mouse with food, by giving it a 'better' home say a small box with goodies in it. you may try connecting it to the opening in the printer and bang on the printer so it tries to leave which it might not do if all it finds is open space.

a fourth idea might be to turn the printer on its side which might make the new home seem somewhat uncomfortable, but then you must make sure that it has a way out.

there is also a possibility that the mouse is too injured or stunned to move easily, but since you said it was quite happy, i am assuming that it is in good shape.

Oh yeah, the mouse isn't injured at all. When I went to bed yesterday she came out after some 30 minutes.I was still awake,I always read for a hour before going to sleep.Little critter was eating a cookie on my desk LOL
Banging or shaking the printer doesn't get it to leave either.Even our cat can't scare it out of there. It seems to know we can't reach it.
I'll try making a better home,that might work πŸ™‚

well it seems to be interested in making your home, its home LOL
may be it likes you and is making an effort to get you to let it stay LOL
it certainly seems to be a good judge of character, imho.

You need to get the printer high, e.g on the top of an upside down trash can, and well away from any high objects that the mouse can climb on to and jump to the printer from.

Make sure you unplug it so there are no cables for the mouse to walk along. Leave overnight. You could also put some cheese on the floor nearby (if the cheese has ben gnawed the mouse is gone).

Mouse will get thirsty alot faster than it will get hungry.

Put printer in a sunny spot and put a saucer of water in a mouse trap or box levered on top of the saucer. As your mouse has eaten (but not drunk water) its probably ready for water. To speed things up, give it some salty cheese.

Alternately, get a flute, skip while playing a catchy tune and when the mouse comes out, slowly dance out of the house and to your neighbours house. Put away the flute and run back into the house.

cheers

put a trap a few feet away from the printer and instead of cheese as a bait use peanut butter...they love it!

The mouse came out, voluntarily, only to get caught again by our cat.
Poor fella is almost dead now,but I'm nursing it.I hope it recovers and can return to the fields where it belongs.Or maybe I'll just keep it as a pet and buy a new printer LOL
