Public Forum Posters A & B

Let's take three minutes to think through a few interesting scenarios. Public Forum Posters A & B engage in conversation. Poster A expresses a tentative point of view or fully fleshed out opinion. Poster B takes strong exception. At this preliminary stage of the chat most all other lurking posters realize there are four latent possibilities: (1) A is correct and B is incorrect. (2) B is correct and A incorrect. (3) Both A & B are correct though suffering from blurred vision and are, at the moment, myopically focused on different aspects of the blind pygmy tribe's perceptions of the elephant. (4) Neither A nor B are correct, not even close.

Conversation continues: Poster A restates his/her initial post in greater simplicity and includes a fact or two to predicate the 'because' rationale. Poster B takes even stronger exception and dismisses Poster A's premise, viewpoint and/or opinion entirely. Poster A recognizes the impasse; agrees to disagree; decides it's probably unfruitful to continue; let's the conversational gambit go with the idea of further examining his/her present position and possibly revisiting the topic again at an opportune time in the future. Poster B becomes uncomfortable with the vacuum created and develops discomfort with Poster A's seizure of the initiative.

Poster B must now choose between circumstantial public exposure alternatives. Follow the civility suit played by agreeing to politely disagree (without in any way experiencing the least loss of face in the exchange) would be one course of action. Persistently calling out Poster A to deal with some real/imagined unfinished business and persistently escalating the heat in an attempt to 'prove' Poster A, now regarded as an adversary, wrong and full of beans would be another. By now some of the once lurking/reader only posters have become engaged, a few having taken sides. How do they view B's unilateral escalation to prove A wrong?

Pygmies are people too... whether their retinas have been harvested or not.

In context, "...different aspects of the blind pygmy tribe's perceptions

of the elephant." plays the bit role of an emphatic illustration only.

poster B becomes a Che Guevara-like hero to the downtrodden masses, his noble visage reproduced on the t-shirts of countless would-be hipsters, while poster A ends his days wallowing in self-pity and his own excrement in some shoddy Southern nursing home.

Wasn't Guervara just a misguided hypocrite with a messiah complex, who ended up dead from multiple wounds after being rejected by those around him?

Entirely possible.
