Coined by the great (but crazy) Jello Biafra.

Who's your favourite punk band and why? And specifically for all you old-timers, what was the best punk show you ever saw?

Fans of that candy-ass mall punk shit need not post here...

The Clash. One of my overall favourites.

I must agree, The Clash. The album "London Calling" is basically what punk is all about. It is a voice coming from a bunch of guys who normally would never have a voice. Some of their songs are very political and some were just for the sake of fun. Unfortunately I'm too young to have ever seen them in concert though. 🙁 My loss.

Give the dates of their tour.
I have tickets to the Shepards Bush Empire. Its a great venue for a pogo.

Blondie was on there last week.
My eyes are not what they were and she has had so many tucks that she looked just the same. Could not get the high notes but it was still a great show. She just kept the notes low.

The Exploited or the Instigators were best live punk gigs I saw.

I'm not into punk music, but I did go to see Jello Biafra's one-man tour.
I was shocked to hear that his former band members (The dead kennedies) were suing him because he refused to sell the rights to their songs to the advertisment industry.

No wonder the good man is complaining about punk bein' dead.

I can't say that punk bands really appeal to me, but I did like 'Carter, the unstoppable sex machine' (punk-rock, methinks, so maybe not quite punk as in sex pistols punk) and went to see them quite a few times.
Great lyrics and great tunes.

I saw the Ramones and until this summer, when I had the unfortunate desire to go and pogo as a 33 year old during a 'Dropkick Murphies' gig, they had the largest, sweatiest thugs dancing to their music, I'd ever seen.

Has anyone ever heard of: Me first and the Gimme Gimmes?
They play covers and they do a mean 'sloop-john-B' with a wink to the Ramones to boot. Very cool.

Footprints in the desert is the one to get from his solo albums.
He has an autobiography and new album out on the 4th of October.
