A small group of seniors with varying degrees of disability has asked me to teach them a number of Android phone & tablet games to keep their minds and fingers active. To start, I need to make a list of game types.
So far I have these obvious starters:
match-2
connect-2 with straight lines
match-3
merge
bubble drop
I'm seeking more suggestions here, please. Types, not specific apps.
@Kewpie saidDo you know how to do a cognitive test, if not here is a part of it you could do.

Tell them 5 words and remember them. Then get them to draw a clock and put a certain time on the clock. When they finish doing that, ask them what the 5 words were and see if they remember them. This tells you if they can multi-task.
There are also different faces you can show them, and see if the faces is happy, sad, surprised, depressed, angry, irritated, and any others you may like to use.
These two things are just a small part of a cognitive test. I believe it would tell you where the person's state of mind is though.

@Very-Rusty saidSuch questions are part of a major health study carried out on 70 year old people, 75 and 80 and I was invited to take part in this study and I did. In the mental task e.g. we were shown pictures for half minute or so, then from memory we should answer some questions. You can't remember every detail so that was a bit tricky. Then there were words read to us and we should repeat them the reverse way. Things like that, fun. 🙂

@Torunn saidYes, you can also spell words backwards that contain 5 letters in them, for example dlrow = world, if you make the word to long it isn't as much fun.

@Kewpie
15 years ago i encountered the same scenario as my mother grew forgetful, listless, and lethargic
i bought her a samsung tablet, it was highly recommended by internet denizens and i did many general searches across the various engines for suggestions
most were from google play or the microsoft app store and i'll bet you a bishop they no longer exist
not that it mattered much
the first lol i faced was not a process to solve, or a solution to a brain tease, but teaching mom how to interact with a touchscreen
she kept using her fingernail instead of skin
explaining to her how touchscreens work did not improve the situation
i couldn't even get her to recharge the tablet
i ended the experiment by giving the tablet to my sister-in-law and then just getting mom out of her chair and having her move around
sorta like exercise but without the sweat
good luck in yer endeavors
but i have no answers for you
