I know that a player's star gets redder the more moves are made, but what do the little wings beside the star represent?

Kind regards,
Stephen😕

i think the stars without wings were the origonal pawn stars that paid a lifetime subscription .

Once upon a time, people, before the days of non-subscriber restrictions, voluntarily paid for a star (thus removing the advertisements, giving people a star for life. These people have stars with no wings.

Nowadays, when users pay they receive stars with wings. The original star-holders were given membership for life. Of course, a number of people who originally voluntarily paid for a (wingless) star went on to subscribe 'again', thus fueling Chrismo and Russ's predilection for booze and women, or rather, helping contribute towards the site 😉

One correction to this - original stars still see banner ads. So even though it looks like a splendid deal for these early supporters, they still contribute (a little) by getting ads displayed on every page - therefore, they still have one last reason to upgrade to the winged variety.
