ToeQuest is a growing community of researchers on a quest for a Theory of Everything (TOE), also known as the Unified Field Theory or the Grand Unification Theory. Check here for the latest news, research and thoughts regarding the Theory of Everything. Journeys are made into a wide range of eclectic areas of reality including philosophical viewpoints, mind, quantum anomalies and consciousness while emphasizing the scientific method.

How bout "The sum of two legal drinkers"?
The theory being that once the "lifting" of taboo takes place... everything happens?

A giant black hole in a galaxy a billion light years away has been caught in the act of butchering a star - the first time this has been seen, according to astronomers. It means that black holes all over the Universe must be eating stars, and that may be the main way they grow.

Should one care of attractions and joinings? Hardly. Please forgo the sexual allusions! <edit... spelled as illusions... grin . Not a bad mistake actually.>
Rather... "Rum Dum nature gets her due. Another more powereful souce eats a victim".

What the heck would that look like, and how long would it last?! I have to think "100 billion times brighter" must be a little tough on the eyes... would there still be a night sky??
Also, how long ago did this happen in our own galexy, and when will it happen again?
Cool stuff.

Never mind. Hi phlabby.
How 'long it would last' is loaded you see.
At only a ten thousanth of a second into the bang... time 'came to be' but it sure wouldn't be recognized as such. We had an "Expansion" that went up in size as the electons go from state one to state 3 ... all in the blink of an eye. We are quite happy to say that "Einstein didn't know diddly" when it comes to this. There is no explanation.
Or... as I have said previously... we are just not asking the right questions yet. This, I think... is the truth.
But if we ever ask the right questions? What is the age and scope of Time/Space?
Big enough to contain "reality" for a bunch of jibbering idiots called humans.

It happens every 10.000 years. That means that "we" have survived this extraordinary show many times.

I just think things like... "How long was there no time?", and "Man, there must have been a lot of nothing to hold all that something we got after the big bang."
Here is my shot at "The Right Question".
Q: What the!

And how does the black hole go about picking it's next star? Is it like me at the super market grabbing grapes??

If you are a stellar mass equivelent then...
1 - follow this thread...
BH has small mass then.. are you in the center of a galaxy?
If yes then you grow by accreting dust and gass then will likely end up in the massive galaxy BH.
If no then you can't grow from interstellar medium. But... Can you accrete main sequence stars?
I yes then you are likely a BH in a young star forming region like orion.
If no, then you you will grow by accreting other BH and neutron stars.
Back to 1... Intermediate mass is anywhere from a thousand solar masses to ten thousand or so...
Do you form a solitary star?
yes. You are a primordial first generation star. Do you form an xray source? Yes then you are a BH in an old globular cluster... No then you are unknown and still undiscovered.
This is only a small chart. The whole thing covers a wall. You cant "see" it unless you build it though. As I have done.

In the past caveman were very upset ..... for us there is no need to get upset when the black hole in the middle of the milkyway eats a star .... we have sunglasses .... and besides that we humans eat milkyways these days.

Sheesh! Who'd a thunk it?
