I just finished playing a guy at my job. For some reason, he WASN'T looking at the board like he should've been and he was in check. Although I didn't say "check", I took his king with a pawn. What are the rules on "check". MUST you say it or is said person wrong for not looking at the board?

His last move was not a legel move. You were to go back to that move and he is to play a legel move.

You don't need to say check... but they must move away from your check. There is no way for a pawn to 'kill' a king... only mates.

Move must be legal. (like gambit3 said)
