RATED just means that your RHP Chess Rating will not go up/down for that particular game. You can't play a game and not expect your SCORE to be affected, can you? Your win/loss ratio will change with each game you win/lose. Your rating only goes up/goes down for RATED games.
So, calm down. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean that it's stupid.

set peice games don't affect your ratio thingy, so if you really don't want anything to move than start a set peice game up and just set the peices up as per usual.
although i don't really see the point in that - it takes half the fun out of it all! it's harder to track your progress or set targets. IMO...
