And the correct answer is... Instantaneously at the moment of flat line brain function

the human soul passes through physical death to eternity. Whether we like it and/or

approve or not, our temporal life on earth is merely the prelude for the main show.

And the answer is... Yes. The kind old sun will shine both outside

and/or inside Phlab's home on a good time in RI enjoyed by all.

there is absolutely no evidence for this, or for the existence of a soul. dogmatic assertion does not make it so.

Descartes (who you have already decided is pitiful) believed in the existence of the soul, which he considered to be a substance of a different order to physical things, such as the body. the problem, he realised (but you don't seem to) is how then to explain how the body and soul interact. for example, how does the soul motivate the body? Descartes' solution was that they interacted in the pineal gland, partly on the basis that it didn't (at that time) seem to do anything else.

put simply, the problem is this: we know that the brain controls the body by sending out impulses through nerves, and similar mechanisms. so where does the soul fit in? does it prompt the brain to send out these impulses? if so, how? there are no reliably recorded instances of matter apart from the brain being influenced by anything other than the forces already acknowledged by physics - gravity, the electroweak force, and the strong nuclear force - and no reason to think that the matter the brain is composed of is different in kind to other matter. there simply isn't any reason to believe in a soul mysteriously making the brain send out nerve impulses. of course, there is a similar problem coming back the other way, i.e. signals from body to brain to...soul?

the problem of mind-body interaction has proven so intractable that most philosophers of mind have abandoned the position of body-soul dualism (Descartes' position), in favour of one or another physicalist theories of mind - we must look to physical causes only when explaining the operations of the brain and its control of the body.

You appreciate wine, Chucklets37? Quite sure C.S. Lewis' "Mere
