I had someone recommend Mensa to me when I considered studying in London, because he thought it might be easier to get to know people that way. Among other things they have special interest groups, and in times before the internet it would not have been easy to find people who share the same unusual interest some other way.

"Mensa" means table. It's also the German word for a canteen for students. I have been in a Mensa many times when I was a student. 😉
Isn't table the Latan meaning? But the real meaning is a southern constellation between Hydrus and Volans. But being a North Star you might not know that.

But, don't you think there's a correlation between the sort of person that needs to be in Mensa and the sort of person who goes Wreck-Hunting on RHP?
Serendipity doesn't sound like a Mensan to me. The only person here I know to be a Mensan is SJ. She may have done some wreck whoring in the past, but she doesn't seem to go wreck whoring anymore. Most people don't.

Because I ended up studying in Germany after all. I considered joining when I went to Norway, but they don't do tests here. And now there isn't really a point anymore anyway.

Big smiles then. You really are a very smart woman. I am glad you are able to use and share what you were gifted with for a good purpose. YOu remind me very much of a sister I have.

And I agree with you, who wants to be in mensa?
The people who want to be in Mensa are not necessarilly the same as the people who ARE in Mensa.
To be eligible to join I think you had to have an IQ that measured in the highest 2% .
