Looks like a few New Year's Revelations are being made today.
What would they be?

Stees fights dirty. Don't take your eyes off of the little varmint. He's fierce!

George VII is an option. Then again, there's the obvious Charles III.

I have more and more time for Charles these days; I think he is subject to a lot of unfair criticism. Princess Diana was practically forced upon him (meanwhile the Queen, of course, set her eyes on Prince Philip and would have no other), and Camilla was always in the picture.

Charles was a passionate environmentalist before the consequences of pollution were known so ubiquitously. Also remember that he had a difficult childhood as the heir presumptive from the time of birth and the busy Queen for a mother (not to mention Philip for a father!).

I think that he will surprise everyone and actually be a good King.

Maybe we can just jump to his son William?
I used to think this, but I don't think William is ready yet. Him and Catherine need time to raise their children without the burden of the crown. That's a luxury that was never afforded to the Queen or her children, and I think they have suffered because of it.

How about Jock(ey) 1st, as his wife does appear a wee bit "horseish". 😲
Camilla is dubbed "Cowmilla" and "Duchess Dracula" by the British public. They truly don't hold anything back.

I think it's unnecessarily cruel. Her and Charles were always a thing, long before Diana.

what does a King actually do?
ride around in his carriage?
knight a few now and then?
show up in selected events?
fill his coffers?
occasionally raise money for a charity?
dress up in his silly costume?

Diana was the only suitable woman who was also a virgin.
This isn’t important any more thankfully.

I agree.

He has also been waiting a good long while to wear the crown.

It's about providing leadership, Lemondrop.

The Queen might not have political power, but she has lead the nation through thick and thin. She's a leader that people can unite around, regardless of their differences.

Of course there was a lot of drama around Diana, but I think she saved the monarchy by forcing it to modernise.

The younger generation (William and Harry) have been able to marry who they wanted. And look, Catherine will be a wonderful Queen one day.

Yes, I think he is ready for the role. I wonder if the Queen will abdicate soon.

I thought the prime minister provided leadership
if war breaks out who will lead?
not the king

Charles and whats-'er-name should do the decent thing: retire to France and never be heard from again, as did Edward and his divorcee.

Long live William V! Kate's got more nobility in her little toe than whats-'er-name will ever have.
