remember the innocence, remember the love, remember the happy times..... remember the dark times that were always there, the emotions, the confusion..... lost in the world you did not understand..... you are still lost in a world, a world of humans and relationships neither of which you understand... humans show too many masks, have to many faces... you only have one face, one mask... a face that does not fit , a mask that does not reflect...
remember the emotions the confusion the uncertainty, remember needing to be left alone but never left alone, remember the rage for not understanding, remember the guilt for feeling the rage, remember the pain for feeling the guilt, for inflicting pain, for the confusion, for the emotions....
remember the emotions were not always negative, some times they were ecstasy, remember the the uncertainty, the confusion on their faces.... remember the two years of ecstasy where everything collapsed around you but you felt like the king of the world.... your world..... remember not caring what anyone else said you would do it your way.... remember your expectation, your drive to make the unmakeable.... to be better than everyone and to then be better..... to finally feel happy with yourself
remember the fall there is always a fall when you do not get the impossible..... remember what goes up must go down further, deeper
remember the guilt you felt for not for not having a face that fitted or a mask that reflected..... for giving pain because that is all you could give... for not making them understand ... for not understanding.... for not feeling love... for not feeling happy ... for the distance that is always there, the distance of miscommunication of mistrust... mistrust of yourself, mistrust of those you do not understand.
remember all those photos you can not look at... the mirrors you do not see... remember the images you do not feel... remember the food you ate to make you closer to the image you had... remember feeling ugly on the the inside and needing to be ugly on the outside..... remember the unattractive people are never popular, never talked to, never seen.... remember you do not want to be heard, or seen, or felt....
remember seeing the mask of those older, the masks of closeness but keeping a distance..... remember they are not popular... remember copying them... remember copying the mask of kindness, the mask of friendship, the mask of consideration, the mask of confidence, of happiness.... remember of finding all of those masks and more.... remember not finding the mask you needed, wanted.... remember not finding the mask that would finally complete the set ..... the mask that will allow you to function in a world you do not understand..... remember you have not found the mask of love.......
remember putting on the masks and finding that you were left alone..... remember you are alone .... remember the questioning stopping.... remember them leaving you alone.... remember not caring anymore that they do not understand.... remember living in the guilt and pain that made you live...............
do you remember ? ....... well do you ???
yes i remember all those and more.... i remember the photos turned down.... the photos not hung.... i remember the masks copied...... i remember the one not found... i remember keeping them away so i could be left alone..... most of all i remember the guilt and the pain, they live where the innocence, the happiness and love could be.... they live so i can live......
i remember the withdrawing from the outside in ..... i remember the resurfacing of the pain and guilt
i remember a lot of things now......
remember.....................................................

the author of the above post wishes to remain anon, however i do know this person intimately. the emotions expresses are real and felt by this person.
to the outside she/he seems happy, talkative and confident. hiding everything on the inside. occassionally leaving cryptic messages to the outside world asking for help but not saying so many words.
just remember this person, or someone who feels the same, could be in the office next to you, the person next door.

There is a book:
Remembering the Good Times
By: Richard Peck
Analysis
Remembering the Good Times was set in Slocum during the 1950's. The story was told in first person from Buck's point of view. The mood of the story was supposed to make the reader feel comfortable because of all the love and friendship in the story. Near the end, the reader should feel a great loss, like something is missing from their life, yet they should also feel all the meanings of life, and how important it is to be able to live.
The protagonists of the story were Trav, Kate, and Buck. Trav was the achiever. He had money and intelligence, yet he had no courage. He was going to be the mighty and powerful businessman that his parents wished of him. He had no courage to be his own person and to live through his childhood as a kid. Kate was the down to earth sunchild. She wanted the simple things in life, yet she was able to deal with complications with an open mind. She was a fierce friend with a level head. She did not expect too much of anyone, yet did not except laziness. Buck was the simple headed boy who saw life as it was and expected no differently. He understood everything without recognizing it. The antagonist of the story would have to be the complications of life. They constantly got in the way of the pleasantness of the days.
There were many secondary characters in this story. Polly was Kate's old grandmother who became a friend to Trav, Buck, and Kate. Polly taught the children all the lessons to be learned in life. All the children's parents contributed to the story. Trav's parents pushed him into being something that he wasn't. Kate's mom was an embarrassment to Kate. Kate's mother was always out and constantly drunk. This forced Kate to grow up before her time because she was more of a mother than a daughter. Buck's father was an understanding friend to Buck. He was there when Buck needed him, but he never got too close. Skeeter Calhoun was an enemy to the three friends. He was a bully to them and caused many fights. Rusty Hazenfield was a cheerful optimistic individual who became friends with Buck, Trav, and Kate. All four friends got revenge on Skeeter.
In this story, there were many conflicts, as there are in life. The main conflict was an internal conflict between Trav and the harshness of life. Out of this conflict came many others such as Trav vs. his parents, and Trav vs. self. Another main conflict was between Buck and Kate vs. the loss of Trav. Many of these were internal conflicts. There were several external conflicts among the three close friends.
The turning point would be when Trav got arrested for shoplifting. The reader should have realized all of the internal troubles Trav had. The reader should have seen how everyone fit in the story.
The falling action occurs when Trav killed himself. Kate and Buck were lost without him. They knew they should have seen the signs. They felt that they should have been able to stop Trav. Kate and Buck realize that they have to go on with their lives even though they have lost a dear friend.
The theme of the story is that there are little things in life that are meaningful to someone, yet they have absolutely no purpose to another. One person's treasure can be another person's trash. Life is strange. A person has to live for the great times in order to survive.

What goes up must come down because life is a risky business to be in,so remember the good times forget the bad.
