And Werner, I definitely wouldn't be having one with someone who appears to have been out of toilet paper for a good 3 months.
Here in Africa we don't always get the supplies we need.
The troubles in the middle east, American elections etc. runs up the oil prices and then we suffer here.

Fig leaves are surprisingly soft actually and make an adequate substitute though...

Of course you know I've always sympathised with your countries shortages, Werner, in supplies and trophies.
Unfortunately here in Australia almost everything is poisonous, so if we run short of the former (never the latter) falling back on the local flora usually results in some rather nasty complications. As I've already recently confessed in another thread to an incident involving my cat's claws and my privates I reckon we should probably change the subject now.

Excellent posts, RC. Maggoteer was a riot, we had a couple beers together at Hoyt's pub. Tenebr8 was a really nice guy, and he became quite a good player.
Agreed. I only had his posts and a game or two to go off but Maggoteer was hilarious. tenebr8 was so nice it was humbling. If I remember correctly he (tenebr8) worked in a centre/shelter that took in runaway children. Had some hard, grim tales to tell. Played a mean KIA too if memory serves.

Edit! Since this thread is a bit nostalgtastic - maggoteer created the web page to keep track of the US vs ROW clash. I think I played the owner of a vacuum and sewing store in South Carolina, USA that went on to have a war with a graphical designer from Peterborough, England (which in itself spawned some very good spin-off web sites)!

Ah! A legend himself enters the post. I too have fallen victim to tenebr8's KIA. Ownage!

Great stuff RC,it certainly brought back some memories. You are right Bennett,Maggoteer had me in stitches many a time. I still remember him monitoring the progress of his fruit flies, hilarious stuff.

I also remember a guy called rigormortis I think? He was one of the better players those days.
Rings a bell. Think he was Danish or Swedish... Just upped sticks one day and left.

Does anyone remember howard? Was funny in an eddie anders stylee. Fond of a drink too! He was another that just disappeared.

IMNOHERO is another that sticks in the mind for some reason. Anyone remember him? Seemed like a genuinely nice guy. In October, in the aftermath of September 11th, 2001, he posted saying that he was going to be helping out with the relief efforts and wouldn't be online. Never returned. Was around about the time of satri_tar_1 up near the top of the leaderboard. Mike Bergkamp was there or thereabouts too.

MartinS used to be a pretty frequent poster too. As did, ahem, stevens et al.

More recently I remember when Luck first started posting. The man is the definition of infectious enthusiasm. Played about half dozen games with him simultaneously over the course of an evening/night one time, blitzing away. Was moving as fast as I can trying to keep up, and then he starts berating me for not moving fast enough! And this was whilst he was in addition blitzing games against other people at the same time! Prolly my most enjoyable RHP moment.

LOL fair play - he was a tough bastard with it wasn't he! Knocked me out of the 1400 section of the Baker Invitational Tournament. Seem to recall a certain Mr. B. Barr playing in that section too 😲

Whenever I think of a "RHP Legend", Rhymester always springs to mind. When I first joined the site one of the major attractions for me was chatting with Rhymester in the forums. That was way back in the day when the site wasn't so big, and hence the forums were much smaller(Feb. '03 to be exact). Had some good laughs with that guy. I hope I don't sound sentimental, but I miss those days. He was a big shot of the site (original this, original that, MAP, etc.), but to this day he's one of the coolest cats I've met here.

To the master of rhyme, I tip my hat.

Indeed. Shame he doesn't post much - Rhymo's got a super sly sense of humour.

Just did a search on google for rhymester map war, and this is what came up:-

http://hometown.aol.co.uk/rhymsta/rhpmapwar.html

This page is legend-assuring in itself, particularly the Bush caption: http://hometown.aol.co.uk/rhymsta/rhpmapwar2.html

Perhaps you could use your cat as toilet paper?

What about Vaknso, with Rhymester fighting like warriors for the Map month title.

Also, Curator a very, very good player he used to beat David tebb and bbar.

Heh heh - very cool. Those were the days. Imagine getting a mention! I feel it may be time for a new poem thread to draw out the lurking oldies again.
