Not long ago, a friend of mine [we'll protect his identity and say his name is David and that if he were an RHPer (I'm not necessarily saying he is) his handle would be 'Warspite'] gave me the URL of his homepage. In the spirit of keeping up with the Joneses, and after several weeks of sporadic work, I now have a website, namely:
www.geocities.com/markfhagen
If you are interested in maths, bad software, silly essays, random links, puzzles, haikus, RHP, HP Lovecraft search engines, and the state of modern American secondary education as exemplified by my school, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, stay far, far away.
nice site, mark. haven't looked in a lot of detail yet, but it looks good.
just a suggestioin to consider, you may want to html some of the msword downloads since
a) word can do it for you with just a 'save as'
b) saves people downloading (unless of course there is some extravangant formatting in it)
i will go back and look around some more in the future.
in friendship,
prad

I had a look, too. I was hoping to find your chess engine in the software page. Is the engine not yet complete? Will it be available for download when it is?
Huntingbear, the chess engine is sort of iffy. I designed the final algorithm in conjunction with a fellow who plays here as goldfish1. His programming skills are superior to mine, so he's writing the actual code. He lives about 300 miles from me, so I see him about once/year. The net effect is that as of July it was a work in progress. When he does finish it, it will be available on my site and on his:
http://homepage.mac.com/goldfish1/
Note that it will only run on a Mac platform. If I have time this summer, I will write a Windows version with the same mathematical structure.
Thanks for the input.
goldfish1, get in here 😛.

Originally posted by rwingettLook at it from my point of view. My penchant for algorizing has been manipulated so that I have helped to produce a piece of software, which is incidentally being used to alleviate the frustrations of an oppressed community (Mac users), which underscores the fact that I, as a consumer whore, am involuntarily a member of an oppressing class, despite my efforts...😛
Kafkaesque? I'm not quite sure I agree with that...
