How long is it usually down? It was just down...but only for 58 seconds! what exactly happens during this time?

Basically, we need to protect all the data on the site.
Say something terrible happens (i.e. server breaks), we need to restore the site to a very recent state. Hence, a 4 times-a-day back up. (Just to be safe)

We hoped to remove the downtime, but in fact we have just reduced it (we now have a faster server - but it does seem to be getting worked just as hard when it is not in a 'down for maintenance' state.)

okay, thanks a lot....my next question was going to be: how many times a day does it go down?....but you already answered that. what times does it go down?
