everybody speaking Spanish, bilboards in Spanish, menus in Spanish,
public buildings with directions in Spanish, etc.

Apart from your religious over tones and your bad breath (did you brush this morning?) Not a bad idea.. Going further how about we only trade with ppl who pay their workers a fair wage. Then we can start building our manufacturing industries and employ people instead of putting them into the military. That may strike a blow to slave labour economies.

I wish we had a culture of language and diversity, but it just isn't the case. Our system isn't set up for it and so it become unfair to those who have to pay for the social irresponsibility.

Maybe it's about time the U.S. includes Spanish as official language,
the same way Finns have both Finnish and Swedish as official, recognizing the joint history with Sweden. And, somehow, also, I think that measure keeps the brain of Finns so sharp since they are in primary school. Their education system kicks butt and the kids end up speaking 3 languages (Finnish, Swedish and another one of their choice) by the time they get to the university.
And yes, I am learning Finnish too... painu helvetin, kysipaa! 😉
