That would be over 25 years wouldn't it? [60s and 70s]
Anyway I agree completely.

And some 80s. 🙂

There has been some good music in the 90's and currently. It's less mainstream but good bands still exist. I'm not saying it is as good but good music still exists.

Ten great rock albums of the last 5 years, in the order I thought of them:

1. Amnesiac -- Radiohead
2. Is this It -- The Strokes
3. Up the Bracket -- The Libertines
4. Funeral -- Arcade Fire
5. Elephant -- The White Stripes
6. The Lost Riots -- Hope of the States
7. The Mysterious Production of Eggs -- Andrew Bird
8. Sleeping With Ghosts -- Placebo
9. Left and Leaving -- The Weakerthans
10. Takeoffs and Landings -- Rilo Kiley

I'll keep my Lynyrd Skynyrd, Motley Crue, and Poison.

Thank you very much.

There's a difference between Good music and trendy music. You think anyone will know who those bands are in 30 years?

What's good music? None of that's a patch on Chopin, but 1., 3., and 4. are modern classics, and anything there is more musically interesting than Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Please do. And preferably somewhere out of my earshot.

And btw there's some great rock music around. Though you'll probably have to look further than the Top 10 chart in Woolworth...

I've heard of all of them but if you're judging bands in terms of historical signifigance, all of those bands haven't got a chance of standing any test of time....

Radiohead would have the best shot but I'd put U2 or REM ahead of them in terms of being remembered 30 years from now.

So you're a counterexample to your claim that nobody knows who they are?
