I'm at work, ok, working... doing my job, and the phone rings... its a person from a school who is asking if my company would like to sponsor some kind of sporting event where our logo would be on the back of their teams t-shirt. I explain to her that we don't advertise. She goes on to explain how it would be great exposure for our company. Again, I say we don't have an advertising budget and don't even need to advertise.

Then she hangs up, not even saying goodbye or thankyou for your time. What an a-hole! I can't believe she has the nerve to think that people are obliged to give her our valuable time for free. This has happened before, but with telemarketers wanting me to subscribe or something like this. I just say, "sorry, I am not interested" and then they keep yapping and yapping... one time I even hung up on them... AND THEY CALLED BACK!!! saying that I was rude for hanging up on them when I had clearly stated that I wasn't interested in the first place.

If your job is to call people you don't know, trying to get them to donate money or to buy your product, the least you can do is be considerate of the people you are calling... right?

Always write the company name down and ask if you missed it. Next, ask them to remove you from their list.

If they pull the "but wait, there's more" or "why don't you want to save money"? lines just say the company name again and tell them to remove you now.

If you get a call back from a company, I think you have every right to drive your car through a wall in their office.

Is Canada in the Do not Call list system? It seems now the creeps are going to be calling like that on CELL phones! So at least here in the US there is a national do not call list where they can get their peepee's spanked if they abuse it. I put all our cells on that list, we'll see if it works. We still get calls from the politicos before the elections and survey dudes calling. I guess they are exempt from the list.

Now they're not even getting actual people to call to give me the satisfaction of giving them my usual piece of mind. Now it's an automatic voice recording. So you can't ask to be removed from any list, you just have to hang up.

And yes Canada has a remove from list law. They are bound by law to remove your number from their list if you so request it. Then they usually go on about how it'll take 30 days ect. It's not so much the people I had for calling but the company itself for wasting valuable finances to hire people to invade and intrude on my home life. The practice should be outlawed. 😠

The company that I worked for (about 8 years ago) didn't have a "do not call list." People would ask me to put them on it and I would usually just say "sure, ok!"

I'm glad I don't have that job anymore.

I don't know, I sort of like handing them over to my six year old, and his harmonica. It's their dime.

Couple of years ago before we got on the do not call list my wife was coming home from work at night in a snowstorm, missed her exit and got off in an unfamiliar location. She called me for directions home. Called back a few minutes later stuck in a snowdrift. I told her to sit tight & I’d call the towing service for help. Phone rang again before I could get the towing number, so thinking it was my wife, I answered. Was some telemarketer who launched into her spiel. I told her I didn’t have time to talk because my wife was stuck in a snowdrift and I was trying to call for help. The lady actually said, “I’m sorry to hear that sir, and I hope she’s OK, but let me tell you about our…” That’s when I said something nasty & hung up!
