Semantics.
It was off the ball, after the whistle, retaliatory, deliberate and dangerous. Whether it was a definition spear or not doesn't change the fact that it hurt a player and was centimeters away from something that could have been much worse.

A knuckle grind in the face = 3 match suspension. Harsh, but I can live with it.
Upending a player ending ...[text shortened]... s Tri Nations with the possibility of breaking his neck = 1 match suspension. Double standards.
Taking out my own view I've heard opinions on this from ppl who saw from neutral nations and they agree the incident was stupid but not malicious or vicious. The refs and judiciary agree too.. for the enjoyment of the game we must leave them to it even.. I'm no Thorn fan at all, he can go back to league for all I care but dear Crowley admit you can be a little one eyed ;-)

Oh, absolutely, I can be biased about rugby issues, as can you and boreman. When it comes to our national teams things can get a little heated, but hey, that's just rugby!

But on a serious note, if you can't see the double standards at work here, then you are even more 'one eyed' than me.

It was a Bok and an All Black ,so im not worried at all yet.

There hasnt been much whinging from the aussies over here that i have been aware of.

We all know what Thorn was like when he played for the Broncos, plenty of cheap shots from him.

As for the eyes, they are a no go zone ,whether its a gouge or a push with the fist etc,Play with fire and you will get burnt.

Not a bad game to watch under the new EPL laws.
Makes for a faster game for sure.

!st blood to the Wallabies but it could of went either way,
Highlight of the game was watching the big South African prop named the beast running down the sideline from inside his 22 and passing on to the other prop, making 60 metres, great piece of rugby.
See Crowman (new name for Crowley cause he squaks as much as a crow) 🙂 Not so 1 eyed here and acknowledge good play by either team no matter what the sport.
Im sure you will say the Boks were not up to it or the ref missed certain things as you always do.
So here is your chance to acknowledge the better team on the night and not make excuses for the Boks losing.
🙂 🙂

I'm getting tired of whining about refereeing decisions. Now and then I'd like a ref who makes the odd mistake in the boks' favour for a change.

The wallabies got away with murder at the breakdown. I counted 5 turnovers where the wallabies either jumped over the ruck with hands in or came in from the side.
What a shambles to watch.

haha YOU get tired of whining about refs... NEVER.. the forum wouldn't be the same without it.

SA have a real fixation about refs conspiring against them.. of course this SA teams boss wanted to do morning tea even offering to bring the angel cakes but Robbie knew the NZ ref was a muffin man so stayed away.

game not on free tv here at all not even a replay.

Brilliant to get up and read the reports of Robbie's men doing a good job.
I see Robbie wasn't entirely happy and listed it a less than flawless performance.

Burgess the half back was listed as a bit erratic. But it appears the press gave the scrum the thumbs up and the defence a gold star.. trade mark Crusaders stuff.

Meanwhile back home Daniel Braid has been drafted in as AB change #2586 this year. Dan Braid first trialled for the abs about ten yrs ago and never cut the mustard with other coaches.. suddenly he replacement material for Ritchie McCaw... I don't think so. Marty Hollah was the man.

Oh come on, you know the bad taste a refereeing decision that costs your team a game leaves in the mouth?

SA teams ALWAYS get the short end of the stick. Sure, refs make mistakes both ways, but SA teams and players really get buggered by refs. All the time...
It get irritating and I'm getting tired of it.

The boks did not really play the place on fire, but one of the reasons was the ball stealing and slowdown employed at ruck-time by the wallabies.

I think they were blown up ONCE. It was a god damned disgrace to watch.

But, at the end of the day, the forwards should have realised that the ref was going to let this BS continue and they should've cleaned up the rucks more efficiently.
We needed more of the likes of Botha ramming the bastards in the head like Mortlock who had his hands in the ruck.

Cobblers dear Crowley.. we love to hear your woes and know refs stuff up all the time but this is pure fictional paranoia.

SA always do their best to pressure the refs into believing they are hard done by and need a break. they always say the other guy is the villain and never accept that they are their own worst enemies by believing their own fans diatribe.

I've said it before I didn't see the game so I spent lots of time chatting to cousies at Twickenham (Harlequin members) they were unanimous that Sa didn't play well.. nothing like as well as they played against the ABs.. they just didn't put it together and made lots of silly errors.
There was no adverse comment about the ref at all.

When I asked about the ref and mentioned your feelings they laughed and said "Typical SA fan.. can't take losing always look for excuses".

They love The Boks and revere them and have plenty to say about ABs arrogance too but they rate Aussie under Robbie Deans, very highly.. they may be the quiet achievers on the way to the next world cup.

ABs v Aussie????

32-12

Well said ,all except your prediction.

Well this game Saturday night promises to be a cracker, this is what rugby is all about Wallabies vs All Blacks.

Bring it on i say.
I pity the Crusaders players in the All Blacks cause Robbie knows them all to well,if we minimise our penalties and stop the All Blacks scoring machine(Carter) we should win well.

my tip is Wallabies 27....All Blacks 12

Well, I did say the bok forwards should've changed their gameplan when they saw the wallabies infringing.

The wallabies definitely DID infringe.
I don't really care what your club player buddies think.

28-15 to the all blacks
