I saw this movie at blockbuster, Game Over, a canadian production.
About the '97 Kasparov-deep blue and a lot more. Leaves you
wondering about game two like kas did. Too bad he was so
flustered he missed a sure draw, perpet, and gave up. That cost
him the match. If he had drawn that game even though he lost
game 6, it would have been even. It seems the IBM team led by
Joel Benjamin was playing mind games on Gary. Anyway a great flick.

Searching for bobby fisher is a better chess movie to watch. More action.
Game over was just commentary basically.
and the stuff going on in the background. Also I was intensely
curious what those black and white film clips were, the ones about
the chess automaton? I was riveted to my chair while wife and
kids were munching on leftover dinner, yakking could care less!
Originally posted by Obvious_OvertureI also liked the Luzhin Defence as a film. However some of the chess scenes were ridiculous.
the luzhin defence was quite good as well. i suppose the more human side of the chess genius was dramatised a bit much, but i still enjoyed it
At the very end of the film, Luzhin's fiancee is allowed to play out an adjourned game using moves that Luzhin had analysed. This is supposed to be a brilliant and very deep combination that only a genius could forsee, but it's a simple mate in about 4 moves, with all the moves forced! We see the World Champion staring at the board in disbelief. He never expected that an opponent who sacrificed his queen would start checking him!
