Being a fan of Kiellor my wife and I had to see it and dragged the twins Jonathan and Andrew. Andrew fell asleep, not having listened to the show much, Jonathan was more interested. I thought it was a great movie but did not like the ending much. It was a good effort from Kiellor who did the screenplay, the real gang from the show like Tom Kieth who does the sound effects and it had a lot of stars like Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Woody Harrellson, Tommy Lee Jones and
Lily Tomlin, Maya Rudolph from SNL. The musicians were the real people like Peter oshtrusko (sp?), a great mandolinist and Pat Donahue, a great blues guitarist and the real house band and some people Susan and I played with on stage once, Robin and Linda Williams. Sometimes they have on the real show 'bad jokes' hour or something like it and Woody told this great one:
Elephant walks over to this naked guy and says "hey, its kinda cute, but can you really breath through that thing"? Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin play these 50'ish ladies who had a family band and they were the only ones left. They sang really well together and it was their own voices. Meryl Streep has a great voice, only heard her sing once before in a movie. Lily Tomlin has great comedic timing and it showed in the "live" show they did. Anyone who likes Kiellor will love this movie. The ending sucked but hey, it was Kiellors first foray into screen writing.
