Has anyone thought about time. Read a book about blackholes and time distortions. Did you know that if you lived in a neutron star for about ten years, assuming that you could survive the intense heat ans radiation, on Earth about thirty years would have passed (If i remember correctly). Also, have you ever thought about yourself, in relation to time. If you are running then some parts are going faster than others, that means that some parts of your body are getting closer to the speed of light while others are getting further away. This means that all the parts of your body are in different time frames simultaneously, so different parts of your body are younger than other parts.

Scary.

If anyone else has thoughts about similar subjects, please post here.

I assure you, when we run all of our body is going at the same speed, or we'd epread out down the street.

Our arms are moving at different speeds as we run, they swing and their velocity changes.

But surely over a set distance the average speed of all body parts and therefore average time dilation each part is subjected to is the same??

I sure hope so .... unless of course you loose a leg in the meanwhile ....

Much appreciated!

There have been experiments performed with two atomic clocks. The clocks were synchronized and then one was sent into orbit around the Earth for a period of time.

When that clock was returned to Earth, it was found to be behind the other clock. The clock in orbit had been traveling at a few dozen thousand miles per hour, therefore time was relatively slower for that clock compared to the clock still on Earth.

The muon is a particle that decays with a certain half life. The half life is a small fraction of a second. Muons that are created and quickly injected into a high-energy storage ring where they circle at just under the speed of light do indeed have longer half lives, just as predicted by relativity. Good stuff.

For anyone who's wondering, i'm not a super science geek, i just pick these things up.

But going back to the time dilation effect, I just used running as an example, there are some parts of your body that move faster during certain activities so some parts of your body are younger than others.

If you flew on a plane for your entire life, you would be approximately 1 hour ahead of everyone else.

Gravity also affacts time so your head is younger than your feet, unless you spend all day upside-down.

DO NOT WORRY

The time dilation effect is minimal to say the least, for a human you don't have to worry about things like time dilation because the changes in gravity and speed are so small that they have no noticeable effect whatsoever

Check this one out. I am a big physics fan so I am happy to see this thread come up! If you lowered yourself to about an inch from the event horizon of a black hole with it's mass being equal to about 1,000 times the mass of the sun, and hung out there for a year, and come back to good ole' mother Earth, more than 10,000 years would have passed!

Further, if you travelled around in a spaceship that was travelling at, say, 0.9c, then upon your return to Earth, everyone that you knew would be dead as time on the Earth would have accelerated relative to you in your spaceship.

Does anyone have any idea about what new technologies are coming out.

It's clear that the days of the floppy disk and the video tape are gone but what revolutionary new things are going to replace the flash drive or DVD, when are we going to have to forget about moving the mouse on a computer and, instead, scream into the monitor for you character to do the right thing on a computer game.

If anyone has any ideas, i would welcome them.

I think that the next DVD replacement will be some sort of coloured disk which can hold up to 40 gig.
