Of all the tens of thousands of murders every year in the US, somehow this one case has been in the news constantly for the past year. His wife was murdered on Christmas eve last year. A beautiful couple that seemed to have everything. He had a mistress on the side. His wife was 8 months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. For the life of me, I can't figure out what makes this case so much more worthy of the constant attention of the media than all the other thousands of murders.
Forgive my ignorance, but who is/was Scott Peterson?

I agree that the death penalty is wrong in all cases. However the other extreme is just as bad.
Here in New Zealand he would get a non-parole period of around 15-20 years at the absolute maximum. Many murderers don't get that and are out in under 10.
Don't kill them just make sure that they aren't going to get the chance to murder someone else.
Originally posted by kirksey957The main reason why it was in the news so much was because he was being charged with the murder of an unborn baby as well. Something that doesn't happen.

Death penalty. As much as some would like to see an "eye for an eye" punishment system, I don't think that it would work. And to me it doesn't seem that the death penalty is decreasing the crime rate. So why enforce it?
Originally posted by XanthosNZI guess I disagree with the against the death penality folks, especially in Peterson's case. No I am not a gun toting Republican or anything like that but why should one cent of our tax dollars go towards keeping that S.O.B. alive? He is an animal and should be treated like one with no mercy. If I was the parent of Lacy Pederson and this bastard did that to my kid, you think I would want him to breathe air ever again?

I am sick of the media telling me what should be important in my life! The same thing is going on with the Blake trial and the Michael Jackson trial! What a circus that will be!!
Originally posted by Fat mans revengeI don't believe it to be a deterrent for committing crime either but has somebody close to you been murdered? Hopefully not and it hasn't happen to me either but I think I would want the person who did kill somebody close to me dead. It's so bizarre to me that we think a person who willfully takes someone's life (not in the case of warfare or self-defense but in this circumstance) is worth saving. Why? What purpose should they live for? I careless for their life because they obviously care nothing for life at all. They are lower than a cockroach and we don't think twice about killing them. We don't think twice about putting down an animal for whatever reason or aborting a baby (btw, I am pro-choice but I personally think it is murder. I just don't think in that case I have the right to decide what a person should do). So someone please explain to me the value of keeping a pig like Scott Peterson alive? What is his value to the world?

Did you know that it costs about 1 million a year in the USA to keep aprisoner confined?
Originally posted by elvendreamgirlExactly. Instead of using this money for helping the homeless or fighting some disease or anything more worthwhile we are going to spending it on this jackass...only in America.

I don't like the death penalty. Glad to live in the Netherlands.
How did the movie "The Rock" start, again?
"The level of civilisation of a society can be measured by how it treats its prisoners"?
"The level of civilisation of a society can be measured by how it treats its prisoners"?[/b]...whoever quoted this is a complete moron!!🙄
I don't necessarily agree with the death penalty, ecxcept in cases of heinous proportions (child murderers, etc), but I do agree with life without parole...reform the ones who can be reformed, but lock away the ones who can't...what does the NE do?
