I have a Sandisk 4GB Extreme SD card which does not connect with the SD port in my ACER 5600 laptop. When it's in the camera, the camera connects fine using the cable, but this method is not particularly convenient.
Can anyone advise please.
Thanks.
Are you sure the reader slot in your laptop is working? Have you slotted a different card in?
Try using one with a much smaller capacity to see if it works. Could be a driver/firmware problem meaning you can't access the bigger capacity cards since the driver installed on your PC is specced to access, say, 2GB cards.
Originally posted by CrowleyYes, the reader detects my 2GB card perfectly, so I'm sure you are correct about the firmware upgrade - would you have a recommended site for the upgrade?

Originally posted by Daemon SinYes, it's an ACER laptop. I also tried MS but couldn't find anything.

edit: solution 7 and other here seem to find the ACER website useful - I don't seem to be having the same good fortune.
