I was wondering if anyone here feels as if chess is an addiction for them. I have an addictive personality and picked up chess when my brother brought home a burned CD of CM8000. I used to be into CS heavily when I decided it was a complete waste of time. Ahhh chess an alternative to shoot em up games that actually requires some intelligent to be good at, that was pretty much my mindstate at the time. However is chess effecting my social development? I'm in to other teenage activities hence the title but nothing seems to be as big a drain on my time as chess. I get home sign in at RHP and will spend a couple of hours each day making moves and end up not doing homework. Cause and effect I end up not going to school, like right now 🙂. It requires a lot of time to become good at chess but is it worth it??? Is it best to pick up chess when you have the time to spare as in retirement. I'd like to know what you guys think about all of this especially from the higher ranked players who have obviously devoted a lot of time mastering the game.
Cheers if you could be bothered reading this post,

I used to do Coke, but the ice cubes kept getting stuck up my nose. 😀
Anyway, back to the point of the thread.
I use the site in my spare time at work. Likewise, sometimes this makes me slack in some areas of the duties. Overall, I don't think it's a bad thing to be very involved in chess. I would reccommend that you get the work done first though. I have a cut off time I set for myself each day so that I get everything done on time.
