Okay, the protests tend to turn out violent.
I don't suppose the locals care whether it's a minority or not after their cars and houses are smashed up.

the G8 summits, apparently, didn't used to turn out violent. when it was in birmingham a few years ago i heard a tale about bill clinton having a pint with a couple of unsuspecting pensioners...
as for the protesters targeting coorporations, i currently work in a store for a large american retailer which shall remain nameless (i'm not wanting my friends to turn up unannounced, never mind some random person from an internet site...) and on satarday we were warned that there may be protesters outside our shop. in the end, there wasn't. however, we were hearing stories about managers in our store having to clean protesters grafitti off mirrors in the changing rooms, and the reason that we have to check pockets of clothes in the fitting rooms before we put them back out on the floor. apparently some people put leaflets/fliers in the pockets. although things much worse than fliers have been found...
