for some reason today i bought myself a slide. after spending a while on the internet looking at the basics on how to play i spent the best part of an hour* re-tuning my guitar to open-G tuning. only then did i discover that it is virtually impossible to find guitar tabs for slide guitar-even the ol' slide tunes have been tabbed into standard tuning (and no, i don't want to re-tune my guitar...😕)

so, does anyone know of any good web sites that have slide guitar music?

until then, i'll figure out minor chords and contemplate getting a new tuner...

*my tuner is broke. and so, apparently, is my ear...

well first of all you need to try open tunings to get a good slide effect.
dadgad is a good one. dadfad is enjoyable. Personally at the moment i like cgcgce.
dadgad is pretty much a led zepellin staple tuning like levee breaks and going to california among others. if your tuning illiterate and need a tuner tune low e to d b to a and then high d to low d which you altered first.

i've already re-tuned it to open-G (dgdgbd), i just don't want to have to tune it back again...

and the problem is not finding tunes that are in said tuning, it's finding them transcribed in that tuning on the internet that is the problem...i can only find them in standard tuning...

I used to play bottleneck on some beast of a guitar that I picked up in Mexico. Didn't tune it to G. Had some heavy steel strings on it. I just listened to Mississippi John Hurt, Muddy Waters and other blues masters and kind of figured it out.

Are you sure that there is no slide guitar tab on The Internet? I have just googled 'slide guitar tab' and a shed load of results have come up. Try it. 🙂

i found that one earlier-it's all open-d tunings...

and i don't think chris and russ would be too happy about having copy-righted material getting thrown around here, so they'd probably delete the posts with tabs in them 😛
