I really enjoyed this book. It has one of the best openings to a SF novel I've ever read.

Neal Stephenson is an amazing author. 'Cryptonomicon' is phenomenal (and in a completely different genre from 'Snow Crash'😉. 'Zodiac' must've had a vast amount of research behind it and is one of my favourite novels. 'Quicksilver' is epic. 'Interface' ain't half bad either.

All are worth reading. Go to it!

An environmental campaigner discovers an environmental crime is being committed in Boston. Some of his friends/enemies/colleagues/etc are involved. He's a kind of Greenpeace guy who believes in direct action.
Very fast-moving (like the speedboat that provides the title!).
Enjoy!

Yes read the novel and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Stephenson manages to tell a good tale with a lot of interesting reasoning.

I also liked his other novels. Cobweb (with some other guy) is a really good take on biological warfare (besides other things)

And as usual with Neal, one of the least well-written endings ever.

But yes, the rest of the book is great.
