I like this site, it has active forums. The interface is easy and does'nt bog down my slow internet connection. I did'nt have to join. Regardless of all the recent arguments you can six games at a time till you're blue in the face, and do it for free. I just think that's cool. You have the same options here whether you pay or not, and that is'nt true across many of these other chess sites.

Possibly. But I would have thought that 'the best site to play chess' would not be riddled with engine abuse.

Can someone tell me which chess site has the least engine abuse, how much does it cost a year to subscribe and is there the same kind of forum interaction between the players at the site? I've only ever paid to play Chess online at RHP so I'm really curious to know. I've played as a non-sub at GameKnot, Yahoo and ItsYourTurn and I wasn't impressed.

Well, of course it isn't - I didn't say that it was, I said it was one of the best internet communities and not just because it's a good place to play chess.

OK - so I meant "one of the best" - but I'm curious, what is it that keeps people coming back for years? Is it the price, is it too cheap, perhaps if it wasn't so cheap then it would discourage the more casual users / cheaters from coming back?

Is it the forums, which even after the Forum Wars / Moderation review of last summer are still extremely free and liberal? Is it the Clans, the Tournaments, the Sieges? The look, the feel? Some of the site's biggest critics seem to be the people who pay to be here but they keep coming back - why?

well there are 356 pages in the general forum.

Strange to look back to posts from before certain features. Specifically having to move when offering a draw, and getting the PGN of your games.

Then by all means send your analysis and accusations to one of the game mods. I mean, if you "know" it is riddled with engine abuse; then you must have proof. Why not share it with us.
