I need a software recommendation from any of you hacker types that will allow me to look at deleted files off a hard drive. Or is that something I need to go to a professional of sorts for? I have a laptop hard drive that I need to thoroughly look over.

Any suggestions?

The problem with Uneraser which Phlab linked to above is that you have to pay to register the program before you can actually restore files. It is quite good though.

You can use Pandora Recovery to find and restore deleted files for free:
