His nickname was John the bankrobber.

He was a retired bankrobber , who had spent most of his life behind bars.

He was out , retired and having a good life, he had a heart attack in the week.

What a genuine character. R.I.P John.

Ill miss you.

He and I have something in common, I've spent much of my life at a bar.

No offense, but I doubt very much that he was 'retired and having a good life' after spending years in the penitentiary. Any money he might've had would've been confiscated by the state to help pay for his incarceration.

are the inmates themselves paying for their time in prison in the u.s.?? wow, it's like your whole society was carefully designed to keep people down...

That's right. Their "brothers" should pay for their incarceration instead.

3 square meals a day, free rehab, college courses, ad nauseum and John Q. Taxpayer should foot the bill.

But after all, everyone's a victim, right?

Can you tell I haven't had my coffee yet?😞

Must have made it easy for the police to catch him.

Surely John the honest law abiding citizen might have thrown them off the scent.

that's how it's done in finland. the inmates can even have jobs outside the prison, and they also get paid for the work done inside. it has a dramatic effect on the probability they'll return to prison after their sentence ends. it's still far cheaper for the society than them returning to the life of crime.
