Peace Bro, no hard feelings. Have a good day, and stay safe.

I find as a Southern American, that people tend to giggle when we use French chess terms like "en passant." I guess it is hard to be sophisticated when you sound like Gomer Pyle. 😕

Are you near Wilmington? I was stationed on that big, white boat that is parked downtown, the USCGC Diligence. I remember how polluted the Cape Fear River was, especially after thousands of hogs drowned during a flood up-river and floated down the river...along with their feces...the river took a year to reach acceptable bacteria levels....nasty!!!

Hey don't hate us UT fans! Just because we are good and should be undefeated right now, we should have beaten Florida but oh well! 🙂 Go UT, good old rocky top, rocky top Tennessee!

Well, excuse me, Mr. teacher! Looks like I struck a nerve and made you change your avatar...damn, I'm powerful! I never was "under it" in order to "get over it", moron. I bet your students think you're a 'geek'. Yeah, the first battles were confusing due to the similarities in flags, but many a dumbass 'yank' died for said reason. I'm not bitter ...[text shortened]... 't need a "break"; you need a slap in the face with a good History lesson.....
My american history knowledge is excellent, that you cannot argue. We seem to agree on the facts of the war itself so I guess you know some history as well. But you have to go and get personal, so I got personal too. Its a childish argument. The whole country should hang its head in shame over that war, its an embarrasing part of our history. You want to insult me go ahead, I really don't give a sheet what you think about me, you don't know me. You're nothing to me

I am closer to Raleigh. I have been to Wilmington several times. The ocean kicks ass man. I love it.

You're right, PocketKings. We were acting childish. I apologize, and I hop you can accept it. I also want to thank you for teching our youth and preparing them for tomorrow; teaching is a "thankless" job in our society. IMHO you teachers are up there with Doctors, Engineers, Researchers, and other professionals; you and your colleagues are definitely worth more than those complaining multi-million dollar athletes and ambulance-chasing lawyers. The Civil War was terrible, but in the end it defined us, in the eyes of the rest of the world, as THE UNITED STATES instead of those united states. Peace.

Yes we can put the war in the past ,
But every body should remember it was a war of northern aggression and greed

I'm curious, rowpc. How is it that someone from "down under" can have such an interest in the southern U.S. and its history? Have you ever been to the states? What is it about our Civil War that intrigues you? Could it be that "self-determination" of U.S. southerners and that of the Aussie independent "psyche" be the one and same? Are you a History-buff? Just curious....
