Not the disembodied soul type but the alcoholic, I've tried Whiskey, Gin, Rum, Vodka and each one makes me feel sick, did you spirit drinkers enjoy from the first sip or have to acquire the taste over time?

No you have to develop your taste to it.
But what I´ve noticed over the years is that I sometimes don´t like the beer or whisky that I´m usual drinking. After talking about it with my friends, we came to the conclusion that it´s also depends on what you´ve eaten before you started tasting.
So give it another try. 😉

looking for advice on inebriation???
or palette excitement???

the hard stuff ain't the way to go...
beer is an excellent choice, but, you must choose the food accompanying wisely...

now,
that brings us to the most seductive of spirits, the children of the grape...
the heady experience, this woman, will have yer tongue singing both literally and figuratively...
when accompanied by fine food and friends, you will become the poet that can charm the most savage of beasts...
fun wines, frivolous wines, fancy wines, and wines meant only for fornication...

you will find them all hiding under the cork...

Genius! Do you tell them when they order "That's that last one you'll get, this is not a bar." or do you spring it on them when they want a second?

You could of course be like myself and just gradually accept that it really isn't for you, you'll try any number of different drinks \ brands but all the time coming to the conclusion that alcohol although universal is not suited to all. Pleasant it might well be but there are too many variables associated if you don't do your sums right, another reason to be wary if on the path of trying to find that ideal tipple..the downside of not partaking, naturally, is that your middle name will forever be 'Taxi'... come Xmas and new year and most other event worthy of folk feeling the need to indulge, at the drop of a hat you will ALWAYS be kindly enough to ferry folk anywhere and everywhere and save folk a small fortune in taxi money.. yet never will you be fortunate enough to witness them open their pockets throwing fuel money your way..this costs you lots if you happen to live where fuel is $10 gallon but just accept this aspect, smile through it all..also, you must prepare yourself to have any number of comments made against you, anything from the humorous to those plain suspicious of anyone not participating .. 'it just aint right, how can anyone not drink...weird' to the more borderline acceptable, 'he's just eccentric'...one thing is for certain, should they make fools of themselves ( and we all know this happens as regular as clockwork ), you'll always remember what they'd sooner forget from the night before 😛
