Edit: Actually I don't think there is a right clan for this. It's something you have to do yourself. It's easier if there are peers (it doesn't, or shouldn't, matter whether they are in your clan or not) who back you up, but as soon as you do it just because your peers tell you so, or you only do it if you know they'll back you up, you have fallen under the spell you were talking about.
