Why not?

I still have never watched a Star Wars movie.
Is the one coming out now as good a place as any to start?
Which would be a better pick for the desert island for you? The Star Wars movies or (a similar number of) Star Trek movies?
Next you'll be saying you've never eaten a grapefruit.

Originally posted by Ghost of a DukeI have never been much of a cinema goer - maybe only 20 times in my entire life. I am not a fan of science fiction, with the occasional rather random exceptions. There always seemed to be things more interesting to rent when I was at the video store. I don't watch TV much. And I only download movies if I am very interested/motivated to (because of the file sizes). I missed my chance to get sucked up by Star Wars 1977-83 when I was more interested in stuff like King Of Comedy, Raging Bull, Interiors, Elephant Man, Das Boot, Ordinary People, The Year of Living Dangerously, The Verdict, Reds, Silkwood.

Originally posted by FMFYou recently recommended Deadwood, which my wife and i really enjoyed. (Despite the anti climax at the end of the third series). So i guess i can forgive you for missing Star Wars. (But only just).

Originally posted by Ghost of a DukeThere are so many films I have missed. Thousands and thousands, including fabulously popular ones. I watched about half a dozen highly rated movies from 2013 - because I made a conscious effort to figure out what they were, obtain them, and watch them - and even then I only watched 6 of them and I think I downloaded 30. As for 2014 and 2015, I've seen none. And I may have seen only a handful from 2010-2012. Now, TV series... that's another matter...

Originally posted by FMFSome films are only really worth seeing on the big screen. (Lord of the Rings would fall into this category).

Originally posted by FMFIf you missed Star Wars when you were 13, there's no point in starting with any of them now. The punch line is: "I did it for you, mom." That's all there is to it. ok? George Lucas went up market but down hill after THX 1138.
