One of our biggest attractions in Dunedin (forget the
Albatross Sanctuary, the penguins, the seals, the
architecture and the history) is Baldwin Street the
world's steepest street.
But we could be about to lose that title to the Welsh!

The cost in tourism will be billions. The goverment will
have to adjust their figures for a few years.................

There was an earthquake in Anchorage, 1958 ish, not sure of the year but I remember seeing the street before and after, it seems 4th street in downtown Anchorage was split up and down by about 20 feet, split right down the middle and now business on the downslope side had to make a steep staircase to access those at the bottom.
