For me it's a bad decision, Middlesbrough may have had a few good cup runs but they've hardly set the Premiership alight this year, add to that the fact that Roma murdered them for most of each game we played. They may have won, but if England are going to get hammered like that every game they may not have the same luck!

I'd have preferred Scolari, OK, he didn't want it, but McLaren for me is, as has been said on this thread already, the new Graham Taylor. At least Graham Taylor had a good club record to soften the blow of international humiliation with.

Ah well, give the guy a chance at least!

well, in terms of trophies do you mean the carling/league cup. A cup that some of the major teams simply "ignore".
Plus middlesborough didn't have the great manager of Graeme Souness.

i think manu took the league cup very seriously this year!!! (As they knew it was the only trophy they had a chance of winning!)

yes, they certainly did this year. But what about in the past when they sent their youth teams, or "B" teams to places like York City and got beaten 3-1?. Arsenal are just as guilty in this aspect.

Well they still did that this year - they only took it seriously when they just happened to get near the final. If their kids had got kicked out early maybe they wouldn't have been too bothered.
