My significant other has a microwave that still works and it is 18 years old!
I use it constantly and asked her today how old it was because it is big and old looking.

A DVD player that is 16 years old too!
(We are watching Money Pit with Tom Hanks right now)

Most gadgets break long before this so do you have any technology that is still going strong?
My stuff never makes it past 3 years because the universe hates me 😔

@rookie54

My sister is a photographer and my coin dealer has an impressive collection.
Cameras are cool but that is an expensive hobby.

My stove, oven, microwave and washing-machine are all 16 years old - I bought them when I bought my apartment. You notice the plastic parts are turning a bit yellow whereas metal stays white. Fridge/freezer are being replaced for the second time since I moved in.

That’s great! I’m on my third washing machine in 15 years and as for electric kettles and irons? I’m lucky if they last 2 years 😟

Washing machine bought 1996 died in 2020, dryer bought at the same time is still going strong. That's 24 years. Dishwasher from 1999 also.

Miele washing machines are known to be good but are a bit expensive for me. The number of cycles run which are more frequent in larger families and the jobs people do can affect performance. My brother was a plasterer and his washing machines never lasted longer than 2 years; down to grit in the wash I suppose?

I am lucky Electric kettle wise our Emide is serving since November 1990 (when we married) though it has been replaced for the main chore by one which is easier to clean...

@Ponderable

I was told by the man who sold my fridge/freezer that such equipment is not made to last more than ten years. I chose a simple model hoping not much can go wrong there.
